McKenzie is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University and a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of Houston. Since 2017, she has worked extensively with children (ages 4+), adolescents, young adults (up to age 25), and parents. McKenzie specializes in issues like ADHD, anxiety, depression, behavioral and emotional challenges, life transitions, social skills development, bullying, parenting concerns, and family changes such as divorce. She works closely with both clients and caregivers, believing that collaboration with parents is essential to a child’s success. McKenzie also enjoys guiding young adults through life transitions such as college, career paths and social/relationship changes that may occur during these phases.
Her therapeutic approach is warm, client-centered, and grounded in empathy. She incorporates various techniques such as play therapy, art therapy, bibliotherapy, and age-appropriate cognitive behavioral strategies to meet each client’s unique needs.McKenzie is known for building strong rapport with children and teens, creating a safe and engaging space where they feel seen and supported. She always works to identify client-specific goals with parents and children but generally believes in the importance of helping clients to increase their self-awareness, build confidence, and develop effective coping strategies. Alongside work with children, McKenzie also guides parents with practical tools and education to manage behaviors and better understand their child’s needs. McKenzie is passionate about helping children and parents grow through life’s challenges and strives to instill a positive view of mental health care at any age!
McKenzie offers a complimentary 10-minute consultation to ensure a good fit for you or your child. McKenzie is in the office on Tuesdays from 8am-5pm.
